Working With Children

1:1 Hypnotherapy Sessions

As a Hypnotherapist and former primary school and SEND teacher, I am a passionate advocate for children’s mental well-being, and I’ve always aimed to provide genuine opportunities for every child to thrive.

I've had the privilege of supporting children to increase their confidence and happiness and reduce their anxiety and worries. Witnessing their incredible transformations fills me with immense pride and joy.

Understanding ADHD

In addition to my teaching background, I also bring a unique perspective as someone who has ADHD. My personal journey with ADHD, from challenges growing up, late diagnosis, grief, understanding and acceptance, serves as a bridge of connection with many of the children I support. Sharing my story has helped children to connect with someone who understands their struggles, helping them feel understood and less alone.

Does Hypnotherapy Work for Children?

Children are actually really good at hypnotherapy, normally finding it an enjoyable and relaxing experience. Hypnotherapy is an effective tool in nurturing their emotional intelligence and fostering healthy emotional regulation. This empowers them to embrace and manage their emotions confidently, creating a strong foundation for life. Young minds are a bit like sponges, always learning and absorbing new information without much conscious awareness. Before the age of 7, children are believed to be working in their subconscious minds, from 7 onwards belief patterns begin forming, influencing their perspectives and behaviours. While some beliefs are positive and helpful, others may limit their potential and happiness.

Children's minds are incredibly receptive to suggestions, whether positive or negative. Hypnotherapy uses their vivid imagination and openness to positive suggestions, enabling them to overcome emotional difficulties or upsets in a quick, relaxed, and enjoyable way.

Different Approach for Young Minds:

Unlike adults, younger children experience hypnotherapy differently. They're often moving about and not sitting still, with open eyes, it might not look like they are in “hypnosis”. However, children are usually in a naturally imaginative state of mind. This means my approach involves engaging their imagination to facilitate positive changes.

Your child will learn all about how their brain works so they can start to understand why they might feel a certain way. I will give your child practical strategies aimed at boosting their confidence, increasing self-control and managing their unique challenges. Together, we create a plan with small steps to help them start to thrive.

Engaging Their Imagination:

Hypnotherapy sessions for children focus on leveraging their imaginative faculties through tools like metaphors, storytelling and play. This unique approach allows us to build a wellbeing toolbox full of strategies and techniques that children understand how to use and use throughout their lives.

Parents might notice a difference between hypnotherapy sessions for children and those for older children or adults. Children's sessions are dynamic and engaging, tailored to their active nature and imaginative disposition. My 1:1 sessions with children are fun and engaging to bring about positive transformations.
