Working With Teenagers

1:1 Hypnotherapy Sessions

As a Hypnotherapist and former primary school and SEND teacher, I am a passionate advocate for children’s mental well-being, and I’ve always aimed to provide genuine opportunities for every child to thrive.

I've had the privilege of supporting children to increase their confidence and happiness and reduce their anxiety and worries. Witnessing their incredible transformations fills me with immense pride and joy.

Understanding ADHD

In addition to my teaching background, I also bring a unique perspective as someone who has ADHD. My personal journey with ADHD, from challenges growing up, late diagnosis, grief, understanding and acceptance, serves as a bridge of connection with many of the young people I support. Sharing my story has helped them to connect with someone who understands their struggles, helping them feel understood and less alone.

Hypno4Teens

Navigating adolescence can be challenging. Hypnotherapy is an effective approach, giving teenagers the tools to develop emotional intelligence and effectively manage their emotions during this important phase of their lives. Encouraging them to embrace their emotions while also learning healthy self-soothing techniques empowers them to feel confident and resourceful in any situation.

Through hypnotherapy I will support your teen in overcoming emotional difficulties, anxieties, or destructive behaviours. The approach involves thoughtful, relatable, and relaxed methods, sometimes utilising an eyes-open, solution-focused approach. Techniques include resource building, ego strengthening, and utilising traditional hypnotherapeutic methods to create a toolbox for their well-being.

The Influence of Beliefs in Teenage Years

During adolescence, teens often carry belief patterns developed during their formative years. These intertwine with the immense biological changes they undergo, impacting their emotional well-being. Some beliefs, learned from caregivers will be positive. However, other patterns may stem from misconceptions or misinterpretations acquired during childhood, leading to self-limiting thoughts and behaviours. Recognising and reshaping these beliefs is crucial in nurturing positive emotional growth in teens.

Tailored Support for Individual Growth

Each young person is unique. I approach therapy by understanding their background, interests, and perspectives. Teaching them about the brain and its workings through relatable metaphors, stories and visuals. Equipping them with usable techniques and strategies to understand and regulate emotions, foster mental resilience, laying the groundwork for a happy life.

Together, we craft a personalised therapy plan to support their emotional growth, empowering them to navigate their teen years with confidence and resilience.

MindHack System

In my practice, I use the 'MindHack System,' a blend of therapeutic techniques like Hypnotherapy, Neuro Linguistic Programming, Tapping, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and Positive Psychology/Coaching.

This approach creates a Wellbeing Toolbox for your child, including coping skills and strategies, new healthy habits and positive beliefs about themselves and their own abilities. All aimed at boosting their wellbeing and self-assurance.

What to expect

The First Contact

I offer a free initial 20 minute chat with parents, followed by a brief meet & greet with your teen (in-person or on Zoom) if your child wants. This is to ensure they are comfortable.

The Initial Consultation

Prior to the first session I will send you (& sometimes your teen) some forms to fill in, this helps me to get a better understanding of the issues they are facing. By having all the information before it helps to make the most out of the session. My main focus is on the young person, I will be asking them lots of questions and getting to know them better.

The Subsequent Sessions

Generally, at this age sessions normally last up to 50-60 minutes. Your teen will learn about their brain and why they feel like they do, they will also learn lots of techniques to manage their challenges. Session include a variety of techniques, including hypnosis, tapping, CBT and NLP. When working with older children, a conversation will be had as to whether a parent stays in the room.

I hold an Enhanced DBS.
